Cryogenic processing of components increases thermal conductivity, thickens microstructure, decreases material stress, improves working surface, toughness and dimensional stability which provides for a longer lifetime, lower fatigue, elimination of breaking, cracking, and dimpling.

Residual stress develops in every component during production (machining, pressing, casting, forging). Such forces cause increased friction, wear and uneven load which are the main factors in terms of the overall performance and lifetime of motors or components. Such production “defects” can be eliminated by cryo-treatment.

In practice, we will achieve vibration reduction, more efficient transfer of forces, longer lifetime and improved heat dissipation. This makes it possible to increase capacity and, at the same time, decrease failure rate.

Listed below are some components which may be cryogenically treated:
Axles, bearings, blocks, brake discs (drums), brake pads, gearboxes, clutches, tie bars, crankshafts, cylinders, cogwheels, heads, cams, piston, piston rings, connecting rods, valves, valve springs, water and oil pumps, spark plugs, VN cables, stubs, half-axles, joints, turbo sets, compressors, radiators, motorbike chain sets etc.

Example:
Vibrations, reduced brake effect and brake disc deformation occur in most brake assemblies (discs + pads) after some kilometres or after extreme stress (races, flat-out braking from high speeds). Such difficulties are caused by internal stress which evolved during production, uneven material structure distribution (hard and soft blemishes) in the rotor area and poor heat dissipation. Cryo-treatment causes stress elimination, uniform structure distribution and increased thermal conductivity. Thus, it is possible to achieve very good results even with a standard set – double the lifetime, improved safety, lower risk of overheating and lower operating costs. These advantages make the technology ideally suited in particular for the following: racing, off-road, ambulance, police and emergency vehicles.
